In this blog series I am telling the stories of 100 of my favorite images, how I came to be there, what it was like and why I still enjoy the image. For image 14 of the series we are looking at an other worldly image of Bar Beach, Newcastle.
17 January 2009. Bar Beach, Newcastle NSW. Australia.
The beauty of the beach comes from movement, the water is always moving and this movement effects everything one the beach. Sand, fish, people and objects all move with the water and a long exposure allows the photographer to create an image that is not just an instant of time, but an average of time. I love how alien this image is, it is almost as though it was taken on another world but in fact it was our own world that created this image. It's a reminder that we see only an instant of time.
Creating fine prints is my favorite part of photography, sharing the ultimate expression of an image with someone who will cherish it for years to come brings me great satisfaction. If you would like to purchase a print please contact me, prints from this series start at just $100.
