Sunset light on Dripstone Cliffs. Darwin NT Australia.

When the tide is high the water brings in a lot of sea shells but on this shoot it was the first time that I’ve seen the effect that the shells have on the out going water from the waves. These were really difficult to photograph because you’d get set up in a spot to photograph a nice cluster of shells then a large wave would come through and move them all into a different spot! I was really happy with this one shot, especially how the sun was poking through a hole in the clouds to light up the cliff in the background.

Foam on the sand, Dripstone Beach Darwin.

It’s quite odd to see the ‘beach foam’ this far away from the waters’ edge and the fact that it was sitting there undisturbed by the motion of the waves made it quite interesting. As the sun went down there was so much contrast between the foam and the sand that this scene begged to be shot in black and white. Dripstone Cliffs Beach, Darwin NT, Australia.

Dark, Stormy Sunset At Dripstone Cliffs – Darwin NT

Great clouds on the horizon last night, it was really dark at this stage but I wandered a little further away from the car to find these pools of water on the beach. Love their pattern! Dripstone Cliffs, Darwin NT.

Sunset at Lee Point, Darwin. Print Of The Month January 2017!

Sunset at Lee Point, Darwin NT – Print Of The Month for January 2017.

To ring in the new year I’m announcing a monthly print offer! Every month I will be discounting a single image from my portfolio, sometimes it will be a limited edition print, other times an open edition. Every print will be made personally by me, signed, numbered (for limited editions) and then archival mounted and matted into a standard size ready for framing. As you can read about in my Products page, I take the utmost care to produce a stunning image that will last more than a lifetime.

Lee Point, NT. Limited Edition Print 2016-2136

On the 6th of November 2016 I was out at Lee Point to capture the sunset, I have been there many times before but I had always focused on the water in these outings – this time I was determined to stay away from the water and capture what is further up the beach. There were many Territorians out enjoying the sunset and the cool breeze with their four-legged friends. After an hour or so wandering up and down the beach making a few images I set myself up in this spot waiting for the right light and for some ‘models’ to wander into the scene. As well as the stunning colour that the sunset produced on this day I really love the silhouettes of the people walking the beach. It gives you a sense of the scale of the sky and a reminder that this scene was enjoyed by many people.

This A3+ sized image (16×10.66 inches exact image size) comes mounted on foam core and matted to 20×16 inches. This is a standard size so it is easy to frame! This limited edition print would normally be $400 but for orders placed during the month of January it will be only $250! To order, simply message me through the contact page and let me know your address so that I can quote shipping and handling costs. Payment can be made through PayPal or direct deposit.

Sunset Over Darwin Harbour From East Point

It’s been hot and we haven’t had any rain to help temper the humidity of the wet season so by the time I got to this location I was soaked in sweat! Before I arrived at this location I had been in an area shielded from the breeze but as soon as I stepped out of the car here I was met by the cool breeze coming off the water and the promise of a beautiful sunset. This part of East Point can be difficult to photograph, it’s a great place to watch the sunset but it can be difficult to find foreground-background compositions that I like to use. Luckily, I have been here before so I used some tried and true compositions as well as experimenting with some new ideas as the light faded away for the day.

East Point Cliffs Glowing At Sunset

Took my first trip out for 2016 last night and the sunset did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I was in the wrong place! I was hoping to get some good shots of a group of trees that become submerged at high tide (I might post these images later) but at the sun dipped below the horizon I could see a band of cloud that I knew was going the light up so I scrambled back to the car to get to a different location. I was right but this particular sunset was very difficult to shoot because the clouds with the nice pink colour were up very high so it was hard to get foreground features composed with it.

Later, all that was left was a faint flow on the horizon and this painted the cliffs at East Point in a very warm light which you can see here.

Sunset over Sandia Peak, Albuquerque New Mexico

I trekked up to Kiwani’s Cabin for the second time in a day in order to see the sunset over these peaks. The wind picked up but the light faded quickly so I didn’t have to stick around too long to see the sun set. The really soft light that I got (because of the haze on the horizon) made black and white really work for this image.
