About The
Photographer
First of all, thank you for taking the time to visit my site, I hope that my photographs have pleased your eye and in some way stirred your emotions. I am a Fine Art Landscape Photographer based in Newcastle, Australia and most of my images are from the beautiful part of the world that is the Hunter Valley. I have been practising photography since I was first handed a camera at age 8, the images you see here are the result of many years of practise and experimentation with photography as well lessons learnt through thoughtful critiques by other respected photographers. Whilst photographic techniques can be learnt quite quickly, it takes time to perfect an artistic style that elevates your work from a simple capture to a work of art. In my photographs, I strive to not merely capture a scene, but to create in the viewer a feeling or emotion that is an extension of the lines and colours on the page.
My images are a result of a photographic process and not so-called 'digital-art'. All digital photographers need Photoshop to produce the highest quality print but it cannot be used to fix a poorly captured image. Be assured that my photographs are the result of Mother Nature's wonder and waking up very early in the morning! But how can a photograph communicate the power of the waves, the bitter cold of the winter chill or the tranquillity of birds chirping in the trees? It takes the skill of the photographic artist to capture and process the image in such a way that it transcends the two-dimensional print and creates an emotion.
Where possible I strive to combine my passion for photography with my career in the Royal Australian Air Force. While this is not always possible, my service in the RAAF has taken me and my camera to many places around the world including Hawaii, Afghanistan and the Tsunami relief effort in Indonesia. My photograph of the TPS-77 Air Defence Radar (below) has been nominated for the RAAF Photography awards. My photographs have been published many times and hang in prominent places around many RAAF establishments.

Please feel free to leave comments on my blog or through the contact form. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and I am more than happy to let you know more about where or how and image was taken. Once again, thank you for taking the time to explore my site.
